MSHP: MO man falls asleep at wheel and wrecks vehicle

POLO, Mo. - The Missouri State Highway Patrol says a man who fell asleep at the wheel was serious injured in a Caldwell County wreck.

The Patrol says 62-year-old Stanley Phelps, of Fordland, Missouri, was driving a 2002 Ford F-550 on Missouri State Highway 13, two miles north of Polo.

Authorities say when Phelps fell asleep, the Ford traveled off and on the road before overturning several times. Phelps, who wasn't wearing a seatbelt, was taken to Truman Medical Center in Kansas City by Lifeflight.
